Happy Birthday to Me!

Matt had a little more luck getting the girls to pose with me for my birthday. Getting them to smile at the same time was a bit too much to ask, though!

In addition to a fabulous husband and two wonderful daughters, I also got a delicious angel food cake and gifts for my birthday. Tomorrow, Matt and I get a night out on the town to see Wilco, one of our all-time favorite bands. I haven't been to a concert in ages! Thanks to Catie and Sara for helping to make this night possible!!

As for tonight, Kaitlyn topped off my birthday evening by peeing on our bed and pooping in her bath. I can't wait to get her back by telling stories when she's older!

Mommy Loves Matching!

Grandma and Grandpa Kneen sent the girls matching dresses on my birthday, and even though Kaitlyn refused to pose with her sister, I got a few cute shots I can at least display side-by-side. Sometimes taking on a 2-year-old in a stubborn mood is just not worth the effort!

Sweet Silence

Proof that Kaitlyn really does sleep, albeit rarely!

Happy Father's Day!

Daddy's girls were only too happy to wake him up with homemade cards before heading to Lucky Boy to get him a "ginormous" bacon and cheese breakfast burrito. We left him home to watch Sportscenter, though we suspect he spent the time off doing his exercises in peace!

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the past week.

Aunt Jo Jo and Uncle Alligator Visit

We were all very excited to spend the weekend with Uncle Kyle (Alligator) and Aunt Johanna (or Goon...or Cupcake, depending on who you talk to!) We spent Saturday shopping at the outlets in Camarillo and wine tasting in Ojai. It was splendid! We highly recommend the Old Creek Ranch Winery, which not only had tasty wines for a good price...but also a huge porch where Kaitlyn could play with Lego blocks and sit in a rocking chair that was "just Katen's size!!" After a long day of shopping and sipping, we came home and opened a nice bottle of Petite Syrah to have with our homemade fettucine with Bolognese sauce and peach ice cream with raspberries. Yummy! Sunday morning we all walked to the farmer's market for some fresh produce and strawberry lemonade, and then headed to "The Big Party" for some Mexican. We were sad to see Jo and Kyle leave, but we'll happily see them in two weeks in Florida!

Hold Claire!

Kaitlyn loves to hold her baby sister, and at least twice a day, she demands, "Hold Claire!" I usually let her, as I just love to watch them cuddle. Claire is quite good at drooling and spitting up these days, hence all the bib shots. She goes through at least three a day!

I Think I Can, I Think I Can...

Claire can't quite fit her whole fist in her mouth, but that won't keep her from trying! She's looks quite pleased with herself, don't you think?!

Firsts

It was a weekend of firsts: Claire's first trip to the LA Zoo and her first time sitting up in the Bumbo seat. It was also Kaitlyn's first time in cotton panties (check out our little pin-up!) She wanted the Princess panties, but since those don't come with two inches of padding, she was told that she has to wait until she can keep her pants dry for a few days. Wish us luck!!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Daddy turned 31 on Monday, and to mark this momentous occasion, the girls took part in a three-day celebration. On Sunday, we went out to eat at Gale's Restaurant (there aren't any fine dining establishments open on Monday in Pasadena, it seems!). Then, on Monday, we made an authentic Mexican tostada dish from Daddy's new cookbook and baked a rhubarb pie with the perfect crust. Finally, on Tuesday, we joined his colleagues at Senor Fish for a belated birthday lunch. Happy birthday, Daddy!

Gimme a Smile!

Just look at that smile build on Claire's face as her daddy picks her up!
