Always one for a theme, Kaitlyn decided that she wanted a mermaid cake with a clamshell and pearls this year. It took several days to prep all of the decorations (including a meringue shell--thanks to Papa Hartings for the idea and Grandma Kneen for the recipe!), but it was worth it to see the smile on the birthday girl's face.
We had lots of birthday fun with Grandma and Papa Kneen in town, and then the celebration continued on for a week as all of the Hartingses came into town bearing more gifts. We now have our first pet, Annie the Betta, who Kaitlyn is happy to share with her siblings. Such a big girl!
